Pfizer Inc. has announced its intent to offer shares in its animal health division, which is being rebranded as a separate company to be known as Zoetis. Zoetis is slated to become a stand alone company by July of 2013.
The animal health division of Pfizer earned $4.2 billion in 2011 and currently employs over 9,000 individuals including veterinary pharmaceutical sales representatives, researchers, and veterinarians. The animal health division produces vaccines, drugs, and tests for use in livestock and companion animal species.
