The 2012 Kentucky Equine Survey begins collecting data on June 25th. The survey seeks to obtain an accurate count of horses, donkeys, and mules in the state while also evaluating the economic impact of the equine industry. The last comprehensive statewide equine survey was taken in 1977.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will conduct the survey using a random sampling of 15,000 Kentucky participants. Barn managers, horse breeders, and other equine industry professionals may receive survey materials beginning this week.
