Today, May 18th, is Endangered Species Day. The U.S. Congress first promoted this day in 2006 as part of an effort to call international attention to animal species facing the threat of extinction. There are currently more than 10,000 species on the endangered list worldwide.
Endangered Species Day is of particular significance to fish and game wardens, zoologists, zoo keepers, wildlife biologists, marine biologists, and others involved in efforts to save threatened wildlife species.
