A new device has been developed by marine biologists that may allow humans to "talk" with dolphins. The prototype speaker device is able to replicate the full range of dolphin sounds (whistles, clicks, and burst pulse noises) at both low and high frequencies.
Scientists plan to broadcast specific sounds for the dolphins and then record the response vocalizations. They hope that over time they will be able to understand how dolphins communicate with each other, and that eventually they will be able to decode the vocalizations to allow human-dolphin communications.
