New Breeds for Westminster Dog Show

The 136th annual Westminster Dog Show, to be held February 13th and 14th, will feature six breeds making their first appearance at the famed event. The newly included breeds are the Xoloitzcuintli, the Finnish Lapphund, the Norwegian Lundehund, the Entlebucher mountain dog, the American English coonhound, and the Cesky terrier.

While Westminster usually adds six or fewer breeds per year, the number of breeds exhibited has risen steadily from 142 (in 1990) to 185 in 2012.

Dog show handlers, breeders, fans, and owners will converge on Madison Square Garden for this popular event.
